Summer Schools

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a question about the registration

Please be aware that what you fill in in our registration form, is what is registered in our system. You are responsible to providing the right details.

My child is 6 years old and very clever. Can he/she join the Summer Schools as well?
Unfortunately, the Summer Schools are only for children in the age of 7 to 18 years old. Despite their level of English.

My child is 9 years old, can he/she also join the Middle Group?
Groups will be made based on the age reached at the start of the Summer School. The Middle Group is only for students aged 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 years old.

My child is 15 and is very good in English, can he join the Higher Levels programme?
Yes, he can. The Higher Levels programme is for students aged 15, 16, 17 and 18 years old. You can decide whether to place him in the Middle Group or in the Higher Levels. If you think your child might better do the Higher Levels programme, then this is possible. If he has problems with English, we suggest placing him in the Middle Group.

What does "based around Elementary" Level means?
This means that your child will work on his/her own level, but some plenary topics will be explained on Elementary level language. Please find our steps/levels below.

If the level doesn't work well for my child, is there a possibility to change?
It might be possible that your child will change levels. Depending on their level and what works well for the participant. Teachers will see if children need to change levels. Final decisions are made by the Head Teacher.

You ask us to make the Anglia test, why?
Participants are placed in level groups during the Summer School. At what level they are going to learn, is based on the provided information (excluding the before mentioned change of level, please see the question before). If you do not provide an Anglia level, children will be placed in a level group based on age and frequent level for that age.

How does the Anglia Placement Test work?
You can find the Anglia Placement Test here. It is a multiple choice questions test. If there have been made too many mistakes, the Anglia Placement Test stops. The level of your son/daughter can be found in your screen. The level that is provided in the screen, is the level with what they are going to work with during the Summer School.

My child has dyslexia. Can he/she join?
Yes, of course. Small groups and working on your own level is very supportive for students with dyslexia. However, we do not offer any special / individual dyslexia treatment during the Summer Schools. Please write this down in the Remarks section of the registration.

If I register siblings, do I get any discount?
Yes, siblings only have to pay administration costs once.

Will friends/siblings be placed in the same group?
This all depends on levels and ages, During lunch and during the games (Middle Group) groups are mixed and friends/siblings can be together most of the time. On Monday morning we will determine the level of English and make the groups. We cannot make any promisses, but please feel free to tell us your preferences.

Is there a programme for the week?
Sure, you can find it here for Young Learners, here for Middle Group and here for Higher Levels. We do not include all details to keep it a surprise for our participants.

I want to register, but I can't tap the register button.
We recommend trying to register on a laptop or a desktop computer.

I have registered, but I haven't heard from you since. Is everything confirmed?
If you have registered and paid, your registration is confirmed. You can find the confirmation email in your inbox. Please also check your spam folder. We inform students/parents 2 weeks prior to the Summer School about start time and more details.

Will you provide the T-Shirt that I have asked for?
We will provide T-Shirts based on availability. Please be aware that we offer choices for size 164. And adult sizes XS, S, M and L.

What is the field 'Remarks' for?
In the field remarks you can leave all extra information about the participant that you would want us to know. I.e. allergies or learning difficulties. If your child has an allergy or difficulty with learning, please provide us the information. We will communicate this with the Head Teacher.

I have a question about payment

I want to pay by invoice. Is this possible?
Yes, of course. Please note, you will have to pay an extra administration fee. You can find the invoice as an attachment in the confirmation. Are you from abroad? You can only pay by invoice, this will be sent to you by our financial administrator.

I have a general Summer School question

Is my Summer School location definitely confirmed?
The 1st week of July we will see if we have the minimum of participants per location. If we do not, we will contact the parents.

Until when can I register?
Up to 2 weeks in advance. After that, registration is closed.

Can I cancel the Summer School?
Yes, you can cancel your participation at the Summer School. We would like to forward you to our liabilities.

How many children are participating?
We have a minimum of 20 pupils participating in the Summer School at Middle Group and it can go up to 50 for the Middle Group.

What about lunch?
We will not provide lunch. Participants need to bring their own lunchbox.

Can I drop off my child earlier? Or pick him up later then the programme?
Staff is not responsible for children dropped off before opening and and after closing of the day at the English Summer Schools. If they are dropped off, they are the parents' responsibility.

What is the staff like?
Staff are (English) teachers, teachers in training and/or native speakers.

Participants receive a certificate, what does this certificate say?
The certificate the participants receive, is a certificate of participation. It states their name and at what Summer School they have participated in 2017.

What happens with our personal details?
Your personal details will only be used internally. You will receive information from us about the Summer School in your inbox. We do not sell or provide your details to any other services or companies.
